The story of the last-minute suspension of the recruitment of military personnel in knowledge-based companies

Since 2018, the plan to recruit military personnel in knowledge-based companies with a limited capacity has been launched; a plan whose main goal was to utilize the potential of elites and university graduates in order to develop the country’s knowledge-based companies. The Iranian Knowledge-Based Organizations Forum has also tried to play an effective role in implementing this plan from the beginning; so that every year, while submitting proposals to increase the admission capacity to relevant authorities, including the Supreme Commander, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and the Police Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran, it has taken steps in this direction in line with the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

Over time, and with the supervision of the Vice Presidency for Science and the planning carried out, the capacity of this plan has increased annually and its development process has been assessed as desirable. In November 1402, the increase in the admission capacity of military personnel to 1,500 people per year was approved. According to the announcement of the Vice President for Science and Technology, this agreement with the General Staff of the Armed Forces was for two years and was scheduled to continue until November 1404. Also, news has been published about negotiations to extend this agreement for the next two years.

Although the Vice President for Science considers this program to be one of the most successful support projects for knowledge-based companies, in recent days, news has been published on social networks stating that “the acceptance of command soldiers in knowledge-based companies has been stopped,” and some companies have also confirmed the veracity of this news.

In this regard, Touraj Emraei, Deputy Director for the Development of Knowledge-Based Companies, stated that the “Command Soldier” program has not been eliminated and that negotiations for its extension are ongoing, adding: “The recruitment capacity may change at different stages, but no decision has been made to stop or completely cancel this program.”

According to the Public Relations Department of the Iranian Knowledge-Based Organizations Forum, due to the lack of official announcements from the responsible institutions regarding the continuation or suspension of the project, its current status is unclear.
